Wow...
I'm really @#$# shocked at the rates people are paying!
I'm 35 - 1 speeding ticket recently. Living In Canada eh - Have 1 mil. liability, full coverage, lots of extras like disability coverage, rental car if needed, etc etc & I pay $1450 Cdn/year.
I thought THAT was a lot...I'm just blown away by guys paying $2000-3000/year US dollars for insurance!
ZS (still contemplating exchange rates & shaking )

Welcome to the "land of opportunity" ha..yeah right while the illegal immigrants from other countries get to drive around with no insurance til they end up killing someone or running out into the bushes from the cop that just pulled them over...it's a crock

I've been shopping around lately and it seems like State Farms has the best rates for these trucks. I am 21 with no accidents and 1 ticket about to fall off.
Our insurance we've been using for years (I believe its a branch of Cinncinnatti Insurance) quoted us an outrageous rate. They led us to believe the total would be $1600/year... which was almost exactly in line with most of the other insurers... but when we went to buy the policy it that was on top of the amount of my previous truck... they wanted over $2700/year!!! That is insane for someone that has never had an accident. My friend has a 2002 F250 and has been in 4 accidents within 3 years and he only pays $3200/year (which is still a lot, but in perspective...)
Geico quoted me about $2000/year
Hartford was around $1400/year
All State was around $1600/year
State Farm blew them all out of the water, however and quoted me $1100/year.

All these rates people are paying don't really tell much. Different coverages, in different locations will have big effects on the premium. So, to say you're 21 and pay $1200/year might be good. But if that's for minimum coverages (Comp, Coll with reasonable deductions, no medical and say 50K liability) is going to be different from the guys carrying higher liability and lower deductables.
Unless everyone puts their cards on the tables, we're comparing apples to oranges by saying what your premium is.
As for the 25 deduction... when I turned 25, my company said oh, we (as in the industry) changed that to 30 for single men and bumped single women up to 25.
I agree that it's all a huge scam. You pay premuims for years and years, have an at fault accident and after paying the claim, the company cancels you. Then again, we do things that do cost them lots of money... driving without seatbelts or helmets, speeding, drinking (though most companies have disclaimers for this), driving tired etc.
As for TX being high? I think it's WAY high. Moved from WA and my car insurance doubled (same coverages) and my homeowners tripled. No state income tax? Who cares? What's that got to do with INSURANCE?? WA has no state income tax either. Where I'm a resident (NH), there's no income OR sales tax. Property taxes are high, but not as high as TX.
I use USAA and every couple of years check with the other companies to see where I stand. While they've been getting relatively more expensive, they're still less than the others out there. So far.....

Thats myself. ive had my share of speeding tickets. Lost the license twice for my own wrong doing. 3 more times because **** insurance companies " yes when you pay your down payment we electronically file your sr22" Awesome so then you change cuase there a lil cheeper and all the sudden you lost your license because your previous called up and said he didnt have sr22 and the new company must have sent it in the mail. So that hurts as well
But have all state now and its been running me 535 a month. For full coverage 1000 deduct. They say im playing catchup or something but it will drop to 420 sometime. The new company im switching too has my rates for same coverage down to 230 a month. Then i bought a 95 powerstroke. jumped allstate back up to 550 and were down to 345. really sad.
Listen to your parents when they tell you not to speed as a kid!!
I thought the rate deduct was at 21, safe driver, if married and so one? Maybe im retarded
