Insurance?

I was looking into getting a new insurance carrier for next year and I was wondering if Geico insurance is any good? they are about $300 cheaper than who I'm with now. Does anybody have any experience with them? I hate dealing with insurance companys . Thanks

Geico266 could probably help you out. Heck they even named the insurance company after him.

I was here first!

They are a good company. I was using the GEICO name long before the insurance guys stole it.

I can't tell you anything about their service as I have never been a customer of theirs but I have checked their rates every year or two and it's never been the lowest in my case. I'd suggest checking Progressive (phone or website) and see what they can tell you about their rates and the rates of their competitors. Believe it or not, last time that I changed carriers, it was to a Progressive competitor based on a Progressive comparitive rate quote.

I was with Progressive when I bought my truck but their price was just stupid on the trucks ins. saved about $1000 a year on both vehicles by going to Geico

Get a quote from Nationwide. We've had good luck with them. Several hundred cheaper than Progressive. Haven't tried Geico.

The only company I've heard of problems with is Mercury. I know a couple people that were covered by Mercury and when they were hit by someone, Mercury drug their feet and would not do what them could do to help them out.
I'm with USAA who is wonderful, but you have to be military to get covered with them.

The only advice I could give is.... whatever insurance company you choose, the agent that you use can make all the difference in the world. If you have a good agent they can help you cut through all of the red tape and assist you in many ways. I have been with Shelter since I was 16 and have used the same agent since that time. My father has used this same agent long before I started driving and he has become a close family friend through the years.

A small example of a good agent:

While we were "trying" to close on the house we are selling the buyer forgot to get an insurance binder to close on the property. My agent came in from vacation to get the signatures required and send all of the paperwork to the title company. He had to drive over 100 miles both ways and did so without me even knowing about it. I didn't find out until later what he had done for me and the trouble he saved me. As far as I am concerned, he went over and above the call of duty.

A family member of mine was looking into Gieco also. The only thing that stopped them from changing was they kept avoiding answering where the adjuster or office was in case of an accident or claim. They just kept replying "Oh ,theres lots of them".
Try GMAC, ive had good luck with them so far. plus they give redneck discounts

Insurance is a funny thing. When our truck was stolen in June (29 days after we bought it) We had nothing but heart ache and indigestion. It finally worked out when I was going to go to the A.G. I was trying to change after that but nobody could get close on a rate. Then in OCT my 99 was broken in to. This time was a dream. I had some issues with the dealer and told the insureance co I was taking my truck somewhere else part way through the repairs and they stood right next to me on it.

The only thing I can say is it depends on which person you deal with each time there is an issue. If you have a problem then go to the next person up the ladder until you get the correct answer. Of course youhave to be right.
