Inexpensive tires???
Not to sure where to put this one but i need some tires pretty bad. I would like to find some decent inexpensive AT's or MT's to fit on the stock rims or my 17 x 10's. any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Whenever I'm looking for cheap tires, I look for takeoffs or other used tires for sale. I've bought many sets of new or nearly new truck tires for $200-400 per set (of 4). Just bought a new (less than 5k mi) set of Dodge takeoff rims and tires for my Chevy. Only wanted the rims. Paid $600 for all, sold the tires for $350, lug nuts for $30, and the center caps for $75.
Ended up w/ new alloy rims that I like, for less than $200.
put a set of yokohama geolandar a/t's on my '02 and they were really good tires- good dry, rain, and snow and got great wear from them. just need to run them at max pressure on a big, heavy diesel truck- and by the way they were crazy cheap from discount tire.

Remember that these are load range E tires -and they won't be cheap. The PO on my truck installed Load range D tires on the front - big mistake with that heavy Cummins riding over them. Within 10k after buying the truck - it looked like either of them could have blown out.
I've settled on the Michelin LTX's (stock size) that seem to work well overally. Wear seems a little better than the Goodyear Wrangler AT's I had before. The best one of them is on the spare now. Right around $750 from Sam's with a full road hazard warrenty. With tires - you get what you pay for!

I got a good set from craigs list, 35's BFG MT's for 400 bucks, all 4. Sniff around on the local classifieds, you might find something. And, like everyone else, call around for take offs.
