I'm trapped in a blizzard

Yeah for real.

I'm in the truck about 15-20 miles from my house in a raging blizzard. I can't see to go ahead another inch so I'm stopped in the centre of my lane.

There are 2 other trucks nearby as well.

So I'm bored and a little tense monkeying on my Blackberry.

I'm also towing a Brand New 24' Sooner SR724 Ranch stock trailer that I picked up earlier today. Wow what a night. No idea how long I may be here.

Not quite the same, last night, I was coming back off the north highway, hit ground drift conditions, total whiteout for about the last 50 miles.

Was down to the old trick of notching the park brake to shut the daytime running lights off, and running along the snowbank by the park lights. Nothing like a wee bit of eyestrain to help finish the day.

Made it home though. Another day in the north... yay

I did the 30miles or so from Cantwell to healy through complete whiteout once. I'd drive untill I could feel the truck pull to the right then I would ease tothe left untill it pulled left the ease right again. Never saw the valley or river the whole way.....

Yep this is insane. One of the worst I've ever been in. I made it a couple miles in first gear opening the door and digging for the centre line with my left foot. I'm affraid to get off the road cause I might not get back out.

Freezing fog is blowing in now.

Yep I did make it home in one piece.

What a night!

The last 25 miles or so took me over 5 hours, at times I could barely see the end of the hood of the truck and had no choice but to stop in the middle of the road. (Traffic wasn't exactly a problem)

The closed all the hiways.

I have a few cows within a week of calving, they had last been checked by a friend at 6:30 saturday night.

I didn't make it home till after 3 in the morning. I was terrified of the possibillity of newborns in a blizzard.

They turn into popsicles really fast.

That might be one of the worst I've ever been out in.

I did make it home, and found them all in the shed looking indignant for interrupting their sleep.

Little03

I heard that lovely weather went right from here to there.

Talked to a couple OTR drivers who said it sucked hard all the way to nelson, then rain beyond that.

Where was that?

I had the same situation a few years ago between Castor and Hanna...the snow can really blow in open areas like that.

Glad you got home alright Tool. I have been in situations like that and they had to use the jaws of life to pry my hands from the steering wheel and pull the seat cushion from my backside.

Dr. Evil,

The snow started for somewhere West of Bassano, Cluny maybe? Gleiechen? I forget for sure.

RCMP closed the #1 east of Strathmore, the scarriest part of the whole deal was likely driving North on 21 Hiway, straight into the storm. That's where I finally stopped, I just couldn't see to move another inch.

21 has all those hills, curves and coulees so it'd definitely not a place a guy wants to go off the road.
