Honestly, I love the thing. This is the first Dodge truck that is as "luxurious" as the other high end brand's models. The interior is great, plush and confortable. THe power is unreal on the bottom end and mid range(it's still a gasser so it doesn't pull on the top end like our diesels do). The mileage is good averaging 16ish and a best of 19.2(hand calc) on a round trip on flat ground I-35 to south of SA. Over all if I don't buy a new 2010 2500 Diesel, I will keep my 03 and buy an 09-10 1500 4x4 hemi. I don't think I'm going to like a smaller V8 Cummins, if I buy another diesel, it will be the 6.7L.

Thanks Tom.

One question. Is the headlights better than on our older trucks? Sure hope Dodge fixed that issue.

Is the 4BT too much of a challenge, emissions-wise, to use in the 1500? Seems that a small Cummins V-block would cost a lot more to build...

I hate to admit it, but I drove one of the new 2wd's today with the hemi. It is definitely a great ride! Stupid salesguy was trying to tell me that the 2wd's will get about 22mpg highway. I told him that I wasn't born yesterday...

gotta love those salesman. you might get 20 mpg if you drive like a little old man on sunday, but that probably won't happen.

Cummins has a 4.5L that is tier 3 compliant.
I have one in one of my tractors great engine It would have been great in a 1/2 ton.
