I had my 05 keyed a while back. My advice is not to give up and keep in touch with the police. Some people say they will do nothing, but they searched the entire outside of my truck for fingerprints and looked for any other evidence they could find.

No one witnessed mine either, but we eventually got the guy. A little over a year later and I'm finally getting my $1000 deductible back!

 

Call the cop's and tell them what happen and that the perp left a note(hand written I take it). Doesn't sound like the first time this goof has done this

I've never, ever heard of police fingerprinting for a keying. Are you in touch special with the police? Was it an isolated incident? Were there possible ulterior motives?

I would like to think that police would do it, but I've never heard of it. A $1,000 keying is a pretty bad one too, though...

 

I think the majority of this random vanalism is done by welfare types or very low income and poorly educated people who are mainly jealous that they do not have the bucks to buy a truck as such. I think it has nothing to do with the smoke as if it did they would have tons of 18 wheelers to key. This same type if caught would never square off with fists with you on a 1 one 1 fight. They would if they could sucker punch you or they would pull a knife or a gun.
Just have to admit that society produces a certain amount of low life bottom feeders and you have to just shake your head get on with your own life. And hope some day we catch one in the act.
I caught two kids 13 & 14 spraying foam on my truck one Halloween. I couldn't lay a hand on them this young but my chum and I put quite a scare into them saying what we were going to do to them.

 

Actually, it was worse than that. $1000 was my deductible... the total damage was $2700.

They may have been willing to fingerprint because of the extent of the damage. I'm not sure. I don't have any special ties to the police or anything. It was an isolated incident but they guy that did it was very capable of doing it again. The funny part (if there is one) was that the evidence he actually planted to let us know he did it was his eventual downfall as they could not lift any prints off of the vehicle.

 

Wow thta sucks. Hope you get everything sorted out. Call the police as the hand written note might match up. dunno though as i had my jeep broken into and the screwdriver they used to do it was clear. all the cop did was shine a laser and said no prints sorry. Anyways good luck. your not the first and you wont be the last.

People like you need to be arrested. All the smoke and noise that these large trucks produce annoy the rest of us on the road.

The above qoute was the original note placed on the windshield of the truck that the individual vandalized, I believe it fits the profile of an 17 to 25 y.o female whom does'nt like to be behind anything that interferes or impeads her ability to swerve in and out of traffic to get to Starbucks to get her grande mocha latte, (all while talking on the cell phone and putting on makeup), only to wind up behind a large diesel dually at the drive through thus fueling her distain for anything larger than the Acura she was driving.

It could have been a male, however I don't think a male would have taken the time to write a note, let alone word it the way it was written.
