OK,

Here is the deal. I talked to the manager. The only surveilance there is remains at the fuel pumps. We looked at it and it just missed where I was parked. Whatever was used had 4 prongs, spaced approximately 1.5" apart. They tried to pry off my locked fuel cap.....ughhh.

I carry my .40S&W everywhere I go, but it happened to be in the truck at the time I was in the store. I asked the kids that were retrieving the carts and they said they didnt see anything.

Looks like I may get a new paint job out of this.

It sounds like they used one of those hand held tools for stirring up the dirt in a flower pot. They probably keep it in their pocket and do this kind of damage on a regular basis.

It's one of those things that drive you nuts, but you can't find/don't know who it is. You have to get it fixed and go on.

Unforgiveness is the poison WE drink, hoping SOMEONE else will die!

Sorry for your truck..

Somewhere, some pinhead on some radical treehugger chat room, is bragging about getting "even" with evil diesel trucks...

Many a time, I've wished I had a video surveillance system inside my vehicle watching all around it. That kind of hardware is getting alot cheaper to put that stuff together nowdays...

Too bad you don't have all the resources of "CSI" at your disposal, i.e, latent prints on paper note, prints and skin cells/DNA left on wiperblade when they touched it etc. All depends on how hard authorities need to pursue it. A keyed truck is low on the list in the grand scheme of things.

How about finding out where the camera coverage is at the store and always parking in that area. The person is bound to come bak to the store at some point and they will want to see if you have fixed it. It is a long shot that your paths come togehter again in the near future however, anything is possible in this day and age.

ive posted this comment b4, to a guy who caught someone breaking into his truck, get a very large dog, boxer, pit bull, whatever and leave him in your truck when u run errands and go places, great security system and wonderful companion, leave your windows down far enough for him to grab the tree hugger by the throat

Prob some "female" with more armpit hair than all of us combined with a bad case of peninsular envy...GRRR , keep parking @ the scene of the crime, if it`s a local they WILL be back (I`m sure it`s not the first act of kindness they have bestowed on someone...or the last).

Hate to say it - but if the note wans handwritten then you actually had all kinds of evidence the police would find useful - fingerprints, writing sample, etc. Then you washed the truck, sorry man, but you may have washed away some evidence as well......

So I guess while none of ever hopes this happens to us or anyone else, we ought to be observant. If a note is left - we ought to examane the truck for damage immediatly - without touching it. If it's noticed, call the police at once to file a report. They will investigate the note and the truck. Again, I'm sorry that this happened to you. But use the police as this is what they are there for. Also it may catch a villan in the act and prevent other trucks from suffering the same fate.

Add Another Sympathy to your Truck fer me!

Best advice? go through the repair phase from the store. Wax it, love it, use it! Forget about 'looking for someone' or wondering this and that before you drive yourself into a raging lunatic. Do file a police report to help THE NEXT TRUCK VICTIM, ten in an area will get some attention .

I had my precious little biodiesel 85 mercedes keyed when my son took his date and some friends to the prom. I read a tag on this DTR site that called folks that do this ' haters ' or someone who is jealous. made sense to me.
Now i like to call people some nice obscenities; but 'haters' let me dismiss these jerks as lowlifes and forget about them. I enjoyed my repair and waxed the cutie car into a star-trek-warp-drive shine.....it's all good...........

vent here------------>

The police aren't going to take fingerprints off of the note. By the time they did that they would be costing more than the repair of the damage. Unless it's a very serious offender or they caught the truck on fire, it's not worth it; like that scene from THX-1138...
