I hate moving.

First batch of stuff moved into our new digs last Thursday. Managed to trash my back during the process and am STILL walking around like Grandpa Jones.

Add to that it appears we have a broken sewer line UNDER the house and things are just peachy. NOT!!!!!!!

Moving was so much easier when I was active duty.

I'm right there with ya! I got a letter yesterday from my apartment complex telling me I can't park my truck with an 18' dump trailer behind on the property over-night. How am I suppose to move my stuff if I can park my vehicle there. And they are completly aware of my (vehicles) theft history(one reason we moved here). I'll be damned if I'm going to park on the street or in the grocery store parking lot.

I feel your pain man.........I've been moving all of my girlfriends stuff slowly into my house and it's taking FOREVER!!!!! Never knew one person could have that much stuff.....but I'm almost done so it's a big sigh of relief!!

I'll be so glad when it's all said and done and I can relax.......I hope to god I don't move for quite awhile!!

Good luck to you though, it's all worth it in the end..........if you ever get there

active duty

TomW,

i hear that on being ACTIVE DUTY. i just transferd from Washington, to Florida. it was nice having the movers come pack every thing up. then the Navy deposit money in my account for me and the wife to travle on. then the movers came and unloaded every thing, and even unpacked the box's and put things where the wife told them. i gave theman extra $30 bucks and a case of beer. it was a long day. plus one of my dogs bit one of the movers i told him she would bite if she had the chance, and he tride to give her a bite of his lunch

i may have to stay in, just to keep getting theese free moves for the next
15 1/2 years.

Bob

Rick

We did that last time but she only got them for one day to cart the heavy stuff. The rest of the stuff took another 5 days.

Then the stupid phone company took forever to get the line moved and then said we needed a new phone number and completely screwed it up. Thankfully the sewer worked fine.

Sounds like us moving into our new place. Except we had to move everything. And then SBC screws us on the cable and internet so we had to go through another company to get stuff setup and then the power had never been turned on to our septic pump on the house so the toilets started doing weird things and ugh. What a nightmare.

I had a company move us from FL to AZ. Big mistake. Ruined screwed up my 70 Newport convertible. tore the top, bent the driver dorrs a bit backwards and i saw a foot print on the door where they tried to kick it shut. From then I moved us, and that is what got me into the Diesel crowd. I made 4 trips from OR to AZ, in order to not have a company touch my stuff again. I will have to make 3 trips from OR to FL to finish the move, but I know my stuff will be taken care of then.

I made 5 cross country moves by myself (unmarried) with UHaul. What a PITA...
Each trip I'd have to jettison enough stuff to fit it all in a 24 ft. truck body. Worst problem was arriving at new digs and trying to find someone able bodied to help with larger items, like refrigerator and sleeper sofa. (Got rid of that monster sleeper sofa after 2nd move-what was I thinking?) Just as bad was trying to locate a vacant apartment that wasn't on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

Now I've re-married and have a house FULL of 'our' stuff, and a storage unit FULL of her stuff. Will take at least 2- 45 ft. trailer loads to move all of this stuff- not even counting the 3 trailers, the truck camper, and a CTD that won't ride on a tag car trailer...I dread the day!

I feel your pain. Try moving an entire 40 man Navy detachment into another location like I just did in three days. We (me and two others) had to start from scratch all over again, running LAN cables, hubs, routers, desk, PC's, trainers/simulators, portable bulkheads (walls for you non-military types) into a space that needed to be clean first because the civilians who moved out left it a crap pit!!

Moving is Great if you have one of these...

That's how I make lots of my BOMB money! It pays pretty well when you're good and word gets around.... My back hurts more all the time though so I don't know how much longer I'll do it....
