How should I make an engine stand for a 4cyl 207CI diesel coming out of my dozer?

Coming out of a case 450. Torque converter will still be attached.

Anyone build a stand to hold one of these? Safety is of my greatest concern [roll]

When I had a heavy engine , I took some 6 inch channel notched it and bent it . I then welded angle iron across to sturdy it into a platform . I got a little crazy and put gages in the channel and key switch and later added radiator . For motor mounts I took a plate drilled it to fit and cut some heavy walled pipe the right angle to fit plate and length to come out and sit on top of the channel , then drilled some holes and used U clamps to hold . You will also need some rear support and depending were the motor mount is you may need to get fancy to balance the load forward our back . It worked great and I used it many times and ran most engines when done right on the stand .

yeah, running it on the stand would be nice. i'd like to try her out before putting it back in.

You can always make a stand out of wood with runners that come up and support the oil pan rail on the bottom of the block.
