Hoax or ....?

I have a guy in our ATV club that said he made a hydrogen generator for his 6.5 GM. Said his mileage has increased 8mpg highway and 6city.
Personally I think he is full of it. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Hydrogen generator

Sounds fishy to me and if it did work it sounds like it would be corrosive to the internal engine parts. I can tell you with all certainty that they didn't get 67 mpg out of a 350 chevy motor. That's a bunch of bull. If they said 30-35 I would almost believe it. 67? No freakin way . I was getting 8 mpg out of my chevy utility truck. The newer ones can get 12-15mpg.

I would like to see that TV show that exposes myth from fact do this as one of their projects. (Mythbusters)

Personally I think only an idiot would think that if this thing works that well, somebody wouldn't have it patented and be making BIG bucks off it.

NOBODY gives away that kind of technology in todays world I GUARANTEE

fuel cells have been around for a long time. hydrogen will be the next fuel for automobiles i believe. for large trucks demanding lots of power, diesel will most likely prevail.

It's a hoax. Electrolysis takes energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Because of losses in heat it takes more energy than you get from burning the hydrogen. If you did this in a vehicle you would get more energy in the engine by burning the hydrogen but you'd lose the extra by turning the alternator to generate the hydrogen.

Many variations on this have been proposed but it is sufficient to say that the laws of conservation of mass/energy cannot be violated. Also there are always losses in the system so you end up with less than you started with.

Entropy always increases.
