High Mojave people?????
Anybody here from the high desert? I'm looking for someone with a shop or someone that knows somebody with a shop in the Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley area.
Turbo won't spool. I think that he is having a fueling problem. He had someone look at it and said that his lift pump was good and that it needed a " turbo sensor". I never heard of a turbo sensor. If the MAP went bad it could have put it into limp mode though. He said that no check engine lights have come on. I'm still thinking lift pump or IP.I don't know anyone in his area that I can trust. He changed all of the filters so I definately think that it's a fuel problem. It will run but won't spool the turbo. It seems like I saw someone on here before that had a shop somewhere near Barstow. I'm hoping that I can find someone there to look at it. He is talking about driving it over here so Tommy can look at it for him. If it's the lift pump I don't want him driving it... especially THAT far. He's supposed to go to the midwest on a trip next month so I need to get it figured out.
Hey, thats my old home town (Apple Valley), born and raised there 25 years.
I havent lived there in the passed 10 years, so Im no longer able to give you current info on diesel mechanics in the area.
However, one of my good friends may be able to point you in the right direction.
He himself is a mechanic, but doesnt do a lot with diesels.
However, he may be able to point you in the right direction.
PM me and I will pass along his information.
He is located in Silver Lakes (Between Victorville and Barstow) out on US395.

What year, size, kind of motorhome is this? Is still under warranty? The reason I ask is I have a person friend with a similar problem and it ended up being in the wiring harness. SM diesel could never figure it out, they kept telling him there was no problem. I sent him to see my buddy at SLO truck and they found the bad harness.

It's a 2002 Winnebago on a Freightliner chassis. 32 footer and it has a 275 cummins ISB. 75,000 miles and out of warranty. My dad is a gas mechanic and he's clueless about diesels. I was trying to walk him through checking the lift pump. He doesn't know what it looks like. Mine has a mechanical pump so I didn't know what to tell him. I basically just told him to follow the fuel lines. He said that he has something mounted on the side of the block with fuel lines and wires going to it. That must be it. If anybody has a pic handy of what that pump looks like that would be helpful. I'm betting on the lift pump myself. Everything that I've heard about those electric ones going out.
Ok I found a pic of the isb lift pump. Looks like a pump to me. I'll send him the pic and get him to verify pressure from the lift pump and start from there. Thanks guys . Genos actually has a pretty cool writeup on the vp44 system. http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/ISB/Vp44.htm
I don't think so. Last time I saw it there wasn't one anyways. I'm thinking that some yahoo looked at it. I don't think that he even put a guage on it. The lift pump failure is so common sounds like the place to start. My dad has a pressure guage and fittings. He was a high school auto shop teacher for a long time and used to teach the postal mechanics how to service the mail trucks etc. He has an extensive background in mechanics but he's never worked on a diesel before and he has a pacemaker now so he probably doesn't want to. lol
