Hey spud, being that you are an ironworker I think you'll have a tough time finding anyone else that carries that kind of weight. The only other occupation I can think of that would carry that weight is a railroad tie setter, but anymore the process is automated.

Not so quick, back when self contained breathing apparatus first came on the fire ground scene our fire suits and boots included weighed approx. 90lbs. Now I am telling my age. The aluminum air tanks and lighter more up to date bunkers with tools are approx. 70lbs but that depends on what tools you carry in and on your coat. Goodluck,,,Rick

Thumbs up Things in tool bag.

When I was a diesel mechanic for the county of L.A. I was the one they would sent to go on road calls all day to pick up the dead equipment. I had a custom built aluminum tool tray that I would carry all of my road tools in, it had a set of sockets that ranged from 1/4" to 2-1/2".
1/4 , 1/2 & 1" drive on the 1-1/2" and up. 2 sets of combo wrenches to 2" an assotrment of specialty wrenches, screwdrivers small hammer, BFH, and assortment of GMC blower bones (drives) 1 transmission drive ( a splined drive shaft about 8" long by 3" dia of solid high PSI steel) I would carry this in my left hand and to balance it out I would carry 2- 5 gallon jerry cans 1 with diesel fuel and 1 with torque oil in my right hand. I would also bring a 9# sledge to break the rear axle flanges, but I left this in the truck. I did this for about 3 years untill it finally took its toll on my shoulders, elboes and wrist joints. The tow truck had its own tools and jacks. Usually flat towed everything except accidents which I had to lift. That is the part of the job I miss. Used to drive a new (then) Mack 700 wrecker with a 770 Holmes bed. 2 drums 1" cable, powered by a Cummins 903 twin turbo & 10 speed RT roadranger trans.
tote tray probably weighes close to 90 pounds.
Jim.

My girlfriend has a purse that weighs in at around a 100# or so. And I have to "HOLD" it for her when we go to the mall and she is trying on stuff. Of course I do not mind at Victoria's Secret.

Yes but do you wear the strap over your shoulder while you are "holding it"?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, I usually stick it down in one of the shopping bags I am holding , then none of my buddies that see me are any wiser. I usually get her back, when I am working on something on the farm, and I say hand me such and such, and when she reaches into the toolbox to get it, it is covered in Super Blue Axle Grease or something similar..
