headunit

hey guys, got a question

im goin to be replacing my head unit so i can control my subs a bit more but the unit im considering (alpine cda-7995) is a "dead head", no internal amp.

my question is, will i need to get an amp to power my stock door speakers? i couldve sworn i read on here that one came from the factory??

Yes you will need an amp. The Infinity amplifiers use a speaker level input not a low level (RCA) input for signal. If you don't have the Infinity system then you definitly need an amp, the pre-amp section of the head isn't strong enough to drive the speakers.

I have a pioneer. Always liked em. They will control the crossover on a sub amp and you can adjust the "boost" on that range. I change those levels with the remote to diffrents songs to optimize the bass.

so if i have(had) the infinity system (im pretty sure i got it, you can tell by the tweeter on the a-pillar right?) and that head unit can do as Mostwanted said i woudnt need another amp?

an amp will be in the future when i get new door speakers as well. right now i just want somethin that will give me alot of control over my subs.

thanks again guys

Anybody have any links to some pics of these tweeters in the A pillars? I'm looking to do a real nice aftermarket install in my truck and might try to get ahold of a couple of these factory tweeter pillars (somehow). Thanks!
