Have you seen this?!

The video of the college kid that got tazed at the John Kerry speech? I would post a link, as the video itself doesn't seem to contain bad language, but the comments posted are a different story. If anyone wants to see it, it's on break.com as well as youtube....
Doesn't appear to me that the kid did anything wrong. He was just asking questions and didn't deserve to be escorted out by cops. What happened to our rights?

hey I got put in a cop car in columbus adam for nothing. I wasnt even speeding for the first time ever. they could have beat us and noone would have known. so I feel pretty lucky. it was an accident but they had the wrong ppl they thought we had done some bad things and they sure treated us that way. I thought I was going to jail that night

I'll try and make this as non political as possible. With someone such as John Kerry speaking at an event, certain steps have to be taken. If someone shows resistance to do something asked upon them by law enforcement, certain steps have to be followed. The man did not stop talking when asked and showed no hesitance in his action upon waiting to hold out for an answer. There are many people out there just waiting to cause a problem and though this man may not have wanted to cause a problem, he showed no other means of stopping what he was doing. In this way, force had to be taken to ensure that though it seemed things would not get out of control, they were made sure they would not get out of control or cause any harm. The man in the video did attempt to resist in that he did not want to step down from the podeum. Though not a physical act of voilence, it was interupted as a show of force. Though law officials did take him from the podeum and did try to escort him out, no complience was ever seen by the man. He said he didn't resist anything but also made a bigger problem in that proper security could not be maintained while he was escorted out. This in the eyes of federal law enforement, not just local but those of the FBI, secret service, etc , can be considered a crime in that effected the well being of a goverment official. All act upon a goverment official must have swift adn desicive actions, whater lethal or none lethal. The stand the man made while being escorted out only put the law officials in an awkard position because they couldn't conduct the actions planned in an orderly and mannerly fashion, thus the taser was brought out. Though it may not have been the right decision, the man still wanted to create a problem causing unrest in that room while pinned to the ground. Though all law enforcements officers are held to a high standard in the decisions they make (this I know for a fact), few people realize the split seconds they have to make a decision they believe it right and carry it out to product those they believe it is effecting.

In short, we are talking about a presidential elect. The worse must be considered when deal in sitations like this and any and all means can be considered to end a situation, good or bad the problem was solved after he was removed.

I read on my cellphone news thingy supposedly this kid was a big prankster too. Having a website that showed him doing different stupid stuff, etc.. And supposedly from what the article said after the kid was off camera he was joking around and in a good mood (as much as one can be after getting tasered). And before he went an asked his questions, he gave the camera to a woman and asked her to tape him.. Not sure if this is all true, but just wanted to throw that in there and maybe give another side of the story. If I find the article online somewhere I'll post it.

EDIT:
Found an article, but not the one I had orginally read. Not sure if I can post the link seeing how it's off some political website, but here's the last bit of it.

"Normally, that would be the end of this piece; an observation on how each side of the political aisle viewed the same story, and how the usual alignments were not so usual this time around. But the Today Show included some additional information which sheds some much-needed light on this story.

Seems that Andrew Meyer is known around campus as someone who will do outrageous things to garner attention. For example, when the last in the series of Harry Potter books, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was released in July, Meyer made a poster with “Harry Potter Dies” written on it. He stood at the corner of a busy intersection in Gainesville with his sign and a copy of the book, taunting drivers by giving away the surprise ending. From the video shown few motorists found such a disclosure funny, and even the driver of a passing sheriff’s car yelled “shame” to this attention grabber."

I've been tasered myself (drunken night in South Africa and we were playing with one). It hurts and it makes you twitch a little, but it's not that bad. A lot worse could have been done and that kid got off lucky.
