Have a happy and safe 4th of July

I wish all of the US citizens a happy and safe 4th of July.
Maybe you could take some time to reflect on what this date signifies, and find more joy in this date than just the cool fireworks.

Respectfully.

Really appreciate it.
Recently discovered that a niece graduated from high school without having any idea
about the relationship of our Declaration of Independence and the 4th of July. And she is going to have a kid.
Gotta wonder about the world sometimes.
Oh well.
At least we finally got some rain just in case some moron fires off some fireworks.

Well, that's what I meant when I said reflect on the significance...

To Lary- I hope that the next fight for freedom can be won with democratic means instead of weapons.. As I see it it's like that- give Bark's nieces daughter or son a gun and place him/her in a situation where a fight for freedom is needed. Since he/she does not know about history .. the picture paints itself mainly in blood red.
My standpoint is definitely influenced by living in the country that started WW1 and was the birthplace of the guy who declared WW2... and living within less than 5 hours by car to several attempted (and partially successful) genozides in my lifetime. My take is that I have witnessed enough results of warfare and violence that I prefer trying education and discussing first, that I can accept diplomacy quite easily since I have seen the results of the failure of the aforementioned methods.

I hope all of you had a nice and safe independance day.

Markus
