Handicapped

Just wondering how many members are handicapped/disabled, after reading a post on HC parking spaces.

I'll go first...Yes, severe arthritis. back, hips, knees, feet, hands. The farther I walk the more it hurts. I use a cane, but it still gets to me. I know their are alot of people worse off than me, at least I can still walk. But it sure has changed my life.

You don't have to say what your disabilty is if you don't want.

While I don't really consider myself handicapped, I guess you could call me disabled. After many painful surgeries to save it failed, I lost my right leg in April 2004, just before my 16th birthday. As bad as I felt, the whole process was made much easier thanks to my friends who never turned their back on me and really helped me out. As far as my love for diesel trucks goes, I guess it runs in the family. I grew up around them and knew that one day I would have my own. Hopefully that day comes soon!!

i have the tag that hangs on the mirror and the license plates. but if i'm feeling good, i'll let someone else have the close spots. even if it's raining.
(which it's usually raining around here for nine months).

Hopefully, only temporarily. I have always respected those that have any type of physical impairment that causes them pain and difficulty, I am now experiencing a small touch of what it is like to have to adapt.

I am currently using a cane as I need to check into hip replacement. I have only been doing this for about 3 weeks now and it was something of a blow to my ego. (didn't know I had one until that) Hopefully this will only be temporary. The doctor I saw 3 weeks ago said when on the replacement, not if.

I will call to schedule an appointment tomorrow to see what I can do about it. I still drive my truck with no problem but it makes it more difficult to do some things with only the one hand available. From what I am hearing from those who have done it, hip replacement is the best route to take.

The worst part is that they say no driving for about 6 weeks after the surgery. Talk about withdrawl.

I'm not diabled/handicapped but the boss unit is. She has nerve damage in her lower back due the a disc that blew out which partially crushed her spinal cord. She can walk 10 feet to the bathroom. After that it is a wheelchair. What ticks me off is people parking in the handicap spaces without either the plate/placard just because those spaces are closer. Keith

when i was younger we went to church on sundays and my "job" was to assist the people that park in the handicap spots i will tell you that if you help them and treat them right they will be your friend forever. never once did some *** hole who wasnt disabled park in those spots, nowdays i see it all the time. makes me want to hook up my towstrap and rip their car out of that spot into a better place like an intersection.

Couldn't agree more.. I hate seeing lazy people who park in those spots. Most of the time its younger overweight people who need to walk from the back of the parking lot to begin with..

If I'm going into the store, bank, or whatever I'll call the local PD with the location, car make ,model and license plate then wait for the LEO to show up. Nothing like watching some ***hole get a $250 ticket for being lazy. Keith

Handycaped Is A Word I Have Problems With !
I Feel Bad For Any One That Has A Disability !

Now Lets Talk About Handycaped _( To Me ) Its A Tag That Doctors -employers And Goverment Hangs On People That Turns Them In To Second Class Citizens !
In 1984 I Got Injured At Work - L4 Though S2 (disk`s & Bony Joint`s In Lower Back . (don`t Want Simphoty)

First Thing That Happened Was Company Had Me Registered With State As ( Handicaped ) Did That Mean Help -no - Just Ment A Red Flag - Now No One Will Hire You !
If You Don`t List It On A Resomea - You Have Withheld Medical Info !
And They Dont Want Your Medical Problem !
If You Do List It The First Thing That Happens Is Your Resumea Goes To File 13 !

I Ended Up Going In Busniss For My Self -because Thats The Only Option I Had !
I Don`t Know About Other States But In Mich , I Gon No Workmans Comp . No Help Of Any Kind - Just Would Have Been A Lot Easier If They Hadn`t Hung That Tag On Me .
I Could Have Had A Sticker For My Car Andone On My Plate Since 84 - Never Bothered To Get It -
Some Times When Shopping In Wally World With Family I Reach My Limits - Then I Go Get The Car And Yes I`m The One Sitting To One Side Of The Door Waiting For Wife &to Load Grocries In The Car >
I Feel Bad For Any One That They Hang The Tag On Because It Sure Complicates Your Life !

Zigged when I should have zagged in Vietnam. Hard to get a boat, even a PBR, to move fast enough to outrun a B40!!
