The whole thing is stupid really. I bet 3/4 of the people given the same opportunity would have grabbed for the ball.

Exactly! How would they have gotten his name and address anyway? Wonder if the guy who had to work and gave him the ticket is getting harrassed?

If they let the ball get away that much, you can't blame the fans, they should of had more control anyway.

Re:GUY THAT MADE THE CUBS LOSE

Weren’t the cubs up 3-1 in the series at one time??? Can’t blame it all on a possible foul ball catch? I guess didn’t make a single mistake anywhere in the series. (I only watched parts of the series)

If the Cubs would have won, all their masochistic fans would have to start rooting for the Tigers. ;D

7 games and that was only one play it was not meant to be for the Cubs, if a team cannot recover from one play then too bad.

I believe if I were him I'd sue the pants off of the people that released my full name and address....and then I'd move to Texas.

Re:GUY THAT MADE THE CUBS LOSE

I'd like to kow how one foul ball can allow the other team to score 8 FREAKING RUNS. The shortstop fumbling the ball couldn't have had anything to do with that. Or the fact that they had another game to make up for the mistakes made in the previous game. Sounds like a bunch of whiney Cubs fans looking for someone to blame for their team's bad playing.

Face it, the Cubbies suck in playoff games. Just like the Astros.

If you think about it this guy should not be singled out. Other people went for the ball, he is just the unlucky one who got his hand on it.

1.)ok why did the cubs give up 8 runs?
a.) because the team had a mental breakdown because there own fan screwed them....

2) where they up 3-1?
a.) yes, who cares they lost game 5 on purpose so they could try to win at home, and the marlins like to come from behind so i wasnt suprised.

[/quote]

Please tell me your not serious. Mental breakdown??

They lost the game all by themselves. No one had anything to do wih. Even they say so. The only people making this a big deal is the fans, who would have dont the exact same thing if they were in this guy's shoes.

Here in Houston we deal with this every year. We'll be 4 games in 1st place with 8 games to play and by the end of the year, we're not even in the playoffs. Seems some teams just can't play under pressure.

Re:GUY THAT MADE THE CUBS LOSE

The fan did nothing wrong. He had is eye on the ball all the way. He was 10' up from the ground. The ball was coming down on the stadium side of the wall. He did NOT stick his hand over the wall on the field side. There were 6 or 8 other hands up trying to catch the ball. He feels worse about the whole thing than all of the others put together.

If the team is going to let something like that cause them to quit playing good baseball, they should lose; they don't deserve to be in the World Series.

And Hey, I'm a Cubs fan but that doesn't change what is right.
