got picked up by a cummins dodge

As I *try* to do every morning, I was on a bike (bicycle) ride about 8
miles from home and got a flat. I normally carry a spare and frame
mounted pump on me but since I had just done a race this weekend, I
hadn't gotten around to remounting it (I remove everything unneeded when
I race for weight savings). Of course I have NEVER gotten a flat except
2x both of which I had no pump on me, thanks to Murphy.

Anywho I was walking on the side of the road, 8 miles from home which
would take me a quick 20 minutes on the bike, would take 3+ hours by
foot... my girlfriend's cell was in the charger in her car because the
home charger broke, and my blackberry (phone)'s phonebook had gotten
wiped out the night before so I literally had nobody to call.

Not 30 seconds after I started walking a guy in a shiny new 05 4x4 long
bed quad cab cummins stopped and offered me a ride. Turned out he used
to cycle a lot when he was younger, had just bought the truck on the
employee pricing and had previously had a hemi and an 01 cummins. He was
driving just a few blocks away to check on his maintenances guys (Lawn
care) but happily drove me 16 miles out of his way all the way to my
apartment... I generally would not get in a car with someone but
this just "felt" like it was safe.

Really nice to know there are decent people out there still.

glad to see we have other riders, I ride for school on my mountain bike in the fall and on my road bike in the spring. your lucky someone picked you up. I have never had a flat on my road bike but on my mountain all the time. But I make sure someone in the group has a tube, its a good idea.
