GM Running Lights

Have you ever noticed the number of GM pickups that have one running light burnt out?

It seems to be a problem with several years of all GM pickups.

yep... i don't think gm PWM's the power going to the drl bulbs so they get the full 14v when engine running... if they pulsed them down to say 10v they would still be visiable but would last much longer [or just pop for a set of clear/white LED's]

I've noticed the same for a while now. Eventually both burn out and then they blend right in with the rest of the traffic...
I may be wrong, but isn't DRL a requirement only in Canada??
The Big Three build 'em all the same for the "North American" market and that gives us DRL down here whether we want them or not!

I've noticed it...

Never race a Chevy with two running lights- that means a pro mechanic is behind the wheel!

The Chevy Wink.

I've seen more winkers than those with both DRL's functioning.

First in initial quality.. Nothing about it after the first 25,000...

Those bulbs are just 1157's or whatever the plug in ones are. Lots of them up here with the ol one eye. Some guys have jazzed it with some amber bulbs..

Those bulbs in the GMs are what Ford used for turn signal bulbs in the trucks and vans. The bulb burns out in the GMs due the the placement and the constant on time and the bulb space gets hot and the bulb burns out.
