GI Bill users?
I'm one of the rare individuals who were caught in the snafu of the benefits changes made in the late 70's, early 80's. When I first enlisted, the AF paid 75 percent of your tuition when you went to school. So I never signed up for the GI Bill (called VEAP then). The Tuition Assistance you received was better than what you got through VEAP. Shortly afterwards, they cut off the enrollment for VEAP, then cut the Tuition Assistance shortly after that. Phooey.
However, when I became an instructor, you had to be degreed in order to receive your Master Instructor status and AETC paid 90 percent of the tuition to get the degree. So I did make out in the long run, although it would be nice to have the benefits now since I'm retired and would like to go back to school.
