Getting Ready For Winter

Just thought I would start one of those threads where you can post your tips on getting ready for Ol Man Winter. This is a good weekend to do this. Give your truck & other vehicles a good once over.

1. Check the tire pressure. Cold temps change pressure.
2. Check hoses & belts
3. Replace weak batteries! You don't want to get stuck!

And for you Southern drivers when you come up to cold country, (or northern drivers who were asleep in driver's ed class)

DO NOT USE YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON ICEY, WET, OR SLICK ROADWAYS!

Any other winter driving or maintenance tips?

When you stop for fuel, don't eat the yellow snow.

i winterized my truck two weeks ago...changed oil and put 0w40 syn in,greased it,new air filter, and fuel filter, checked diff fluid and put on the winter front.now just waiting for the snow to fly and the temps to head for -40c.oh...and checked the block heater to make sure it still works after not being used all summer.I also use DSG 4+ premium bio diesel additive every tank, the next tank will use 4+ arctic bio additive with antigel and i keep a can of diesel melt down and an extra fuel filter just in case the truck freezes up during those long(50km) drives to work in the dead of winter.

Just ordered up a set of Cooper Discoverer M+S's . I heard these are the best in snow/ice.

We are already freezing up overnight so yeah I need to find a good source for PowerService.

I’ve got a feeling that we may remember what ice is this winter. It’s been a few years sense we have had a bad ice storm, in Texas anyway (not sure about OK). There is a big difference between snow and ice. With snow you at least have a chance, with ice you had better have chains.

Speaking of chains I think I will load them in the toolbox along with a couple of 2X4 to ease the installation when the time comes.
