Gas spring help?
Gas spring help?
I just bought a used toyhauler that is in good shape, but needs a couple little things fixed.
One is a door that is supposed to be held open by a pair of gas spring/strut things, but one is totally dead (just sits there in the collapsed position).
It is stamped "Atwood" and the part number is SL-57-40.
Both ends have 10mm ball pivots, it is apparently a 40 pounder, and it is 16" center to center collapsed and 26" fully exteneded. 8mm rod, 18mm cylinder.
I haven't been able to find a source for one, or a similar one...
Thanks in advance if you can help.

Tried that, and googled all sorts of ways, and tried the local auto parts store...
Thanks, though.
The auto parts guy told me it looked like there was a match at atwood marine's site, but I can't find it there, either.

Well, today I learned that if you spell "Attwood" with two T's, you find an e-bay listing just like you said.
It has really been one of those days.

$35.69 when you add shipping is just a wee bit steep for one gas spring, though.
The same outfit has lots of gas springs cheaper on their own web page, but they don't show this particular one. I think I'll try calling on Monday, and maybe call Attwood directly and see what their price is.
Thanks for the help.
