Gap Insurance
Well i traded a vehicle in that has gap ins. and the place i bought the vehicle is no longer in business. I do not have any of my original paperwok when i bought the vehicle. Contacted the bank, no help there, who would you contact next to see about getting some monwy back?

i thought gap ins was only for when a vech. gets totaled or stolen. then they cover the difference between the value of the vech. and the amount owed. assuming you owe more than its worth. i dont think it will pay anything if you sell or trade in the vech.
sorry if that doesnt make sense... it does in my head |

Made sense to me and sounded correct. |
Correct, gap coverage only comes into effect if there is a covered peril on the insurance contract (theft, vandalism, wreck, etc.). Trade-in is not a covered peril. Do you really expect the insurance company to pay for your bad investment?

I was thinking that rfcjr72 just wants his money back for the insurance he has paid for and not used. Just like if you buy an extended warranty and then trade in the car, you can usually recoup part of the money depending on time and mileage. Not sure where to go if you don't have the original paperwork. I just recently paid off my RV and recieved the original contract along with the title from the finance company. If the car is still financed I would check with the finance company.

Yes, i am owed the money back that i have not used, but the dealer is closed and i do not know who to contact, probably an attorney.
|
Do you remember who the Gap contract was through? That is gonna be your best bet. Otherwise without paperwork and them going under, you are probably out of luck.:(

No, i have torn my house apart looking for the contract and can't find it, this EDIT me off.

Like I said when I got my payoff documents, the original loan contract was there that had all of that kind of info on it. I assume you didn't payoff the vehicle, otherwise the Gap insurance would have done it's part and you wouldn't be due anything, so whoever holds the note should have the information you seek. Hope it's not BofA those guys are the worst.
Good luck, Kevin |
my bad i was thinking that you were wanting them to pay the difference of your trade in vs what you owed. didnt think about it the way you meant. i've never had gap coverage as i buy older cars/trucks. i dont like owing anyone money.
