Before I headed out Friday, I put a can of Sea Foam in the tank. Didn't notice much running wise, but overall mileage was about 1 1/2 mpg better.
What about Lucas products?
A buddy at the Kenworth place says they use it in all their trucks and that, as far as he can tell, everyone's pleased with the performance. Supposedly, it meets the "specs" for all the engine manufacturers.
I've used the injector cleaner in the gas burner and it does well. But then Ole Red is a different animal.

gothecookerasmokingShortround out

NAPA carries it. I've heard a bit about it. Wish I had a chart of all the stuff out there and how it compares to others.

I found a report on "gasoline and other fuel additives". However it costs $3600. So much for information.

I'll run down the list of additives that I have tried.

Power Service
Redline
Howes
FPPF
Marvel Mystery Oil
Stanadyne

I have not tried the Lucas stuff yet. Get the bloodhounds out so I can track some down.

My choices would be

1. Power Service
2. Howes
3. Stanadyne

I found another one, LubriBor by Hammonds. One ounce per 75 gal minimum dosage. It's strictly a lubricity enhancer. It is MIL SPEC listed by DoD and the British Ministry of Defense. Trying to dig up the spec sheets on it.

Shortround out

That is what I have been looking for.

Howes makes my engine run reeeal smooth, but the lubricity is crap. They had a wear scar rating higher than base fuel. I have been trying to find a purely lubricity additive.

Found the lucas oil products locally and picked up some of thier fuel additive and thier oil additive. I will say that the fuel pump is quieter, to soon to tell on the mileage. I sould have a better idea by the end of today.

I've used Lucas in the gas burner and it helped. Mileage was better and it seemed to run better.
I looked over a couple of Cummins bulletins, #'s 3379001-05 and 2279001-06. They covered fuel specs on a large number of injector pumps, but only went up to the VE series. Cummins would not endorse any additive except their Premium Plus and even stated that use of any other would void the warranty. Who knows???????
I getting info on what the military is adding to the JP-8. My understanding is that it beats anything on the market and is available locally. More info will follow.

shortround out
