Fort Worth To Pagosa Springs What route?
So I'm heading to Pagosa Springs the first of Oct. and was wondering which route is best. I used to always go I20 through Abilene up through lubbock, Clovis, Santa Rose Santa Fe and so on. It's about 10 - 15 miles longer but avoids all of those little towns and red lights between Wichita Falls and Amarillo. Haven't been that way in over 10 yrs. Anyone have an opinion as to which routes, knowledge of speed limits etc???

I live in grand junction co, and work in gearge west tx. Gw is just off 37 about halfway between Corpus Christi and San Antonio. I've driven down twice now, home once. I'll be driving home again next week. I've run 87 from Comfort Tx on the 10 all the way to Raton Nm. Then 25 to Peublo, picking up highway 50 over to the west slope. 87 is nice, very little traffic, not too many speed zones. I like it.

The route you used to run are all good roads and is probably the fastest route. I haven't been north of Santa Rosa for a couple years but as far as I know it's 70MPH and 4 lane highway the whole way unless you are in town.

I always just take the US287 route then pick up US87 in Dalhart. Just so I can stop at the Rabbit Ears café in Clayton NM.
Then try to stop at the little RV park in Capulin. Makes for a long day but the next day is a breeze.
