Flags of Our Fathers

I just got back from watching it. It jumped around a little too much, otherwise it was good. That's the kinda movie that would make a grown man cry.

I'm sure. What's bad is they replace Fly Boys at my local theater with Flags of Our Fathers and Fly Boys would in my opinion be better for Veterans day being it was originally Armistice Day being the end of WWI. While Flags is better for the Marine Corps birthday. But at any rate. Thank you Marines today and all veterans tomorrow. (where's a saluting smile when you need one?)

Haven't seen it myself, i will probably go tomorrow. I happen to live and work in the town where Harlon Block lived and went to school, Weslaco, Texas. You dont know how proud Iam of that and also knowing that my son will go to that school.

Flags of our Fathers is a much better movie than Flyboys! Flyboys is a love story with a slight resemblance of actual events inserted.. much like Pearl Harbor was. Lots of errors in Flyboys.

There was only a couple errors in Flags of our Fathers that I noticed right off. Everything that I'd read and heard about before about Iwo Jima was in there. As for Flyboys... all I'll say is that every Dr.1 was not red!!!

Eastwood and Spielburg have another movie coming out soon about Iwo Jima. Its called Red Sun, Black Sand, it was filmed at the same time as Flags of our Fathers and portrays the invasion from the Japanese perspective.

The main problem with the book "Flags of Our Fathers" was that it seemed to be giving the Japanese a pass or at least trying to excuse their conduct towards enemy combatants (US, Australian, British, Chinese, etc). Does the movie do the same? Bradley's other book, "Flyboys" is also like that.

I never noticed anything to the effect that Flags of Our Fathers was trying to excuse Japanese conduct. To me it was just a factual portrayal of what happened.

I also found out just a couple hours ago that the title of Red Sun, Black Sand has been changed to Letters from Iwo Jima and its supposed to be out in December.
