Fishsing question
Got in an evenings fishing last night in a nearby lake, mostly trolling shorelines, did cast into a few bays.
Boated 8 fish all together, (three hours fishing maybe?) 3 small mouth bass, (which are out of season, all went back of course) and 5 northern pike.
Kept one moderate pike for a fish fry when we got back.
Delicious.
I will try the wheties ball corn mix for those carp though.
What's your best recipe??
Corn works great on small flies and little gold hooks during the trout run.
Not sure I can see those fish still spwaning this late into the season.........
Maybe.

Easiest to do? Take a handful of Wheaties and crush them real good into a fine powder. Add just enough water to make them into a dough. Some folks insist on adding anise, corn syrup, molasses and other stuff for flavoring. I just add ground up corn niblets. Make little (nickel size) dough *****, put on waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. Take a dozen or so with you on every trip.
They might be Buffalo fish. Another "rough" fish.
Speaking of rough. Here in Tenn. there is a group of old guys that catch catfish barehanded!!
Yeah they just wade around in likely waters and when they find a hole underwater they reach in and grab.
I wish I had the pictures and article from the paper. Some (few) have all their finger due to matches with snapping turtles.
They claim only real men fish bare handed.

I saw some pictures of that about a year ago. I figured it was done in the digital darkroom, but find that it is the real thing. Some of the fish were as big as they 'fishermen' if you can call them that.
Here is what a Google search just found...

I haven't fished in England but I've read that they consider pike a trash fish and carp a game fish. In parts of Europe a nice big carp is the main holiday meal instead of a turkey :^) A few years back I recall reading that guided fishing trips for carp in Oregon on Columbia river are advertised in Europe. I don't fish for them, but from what I've been told you'll be les likely to make fun of them after they trash some of your fishing gear.
In the US we have more noble types of fishing, like 'noodling for catfish' :^) After being in southern California for a bit I wanted to do some catfishing like is done in the eastern parts of the country, where you rig a big pole with some ungodly stinkbait, cast it out, and sit through the night fishing. Couldn't do it as they close the lakes at night !

In Europe, primarily the Netherlands, pike are held in high regard for their sporting capabilities and excellent eating. Seems the Europeans think more of the pike than the Brits and the Irish. It's all about local perception. What destroys far more salmon in the Scotland mostly are the local snaggers and netters. The pike just get a bad rap.
I was banned per my own request for speaking the name Pelosi

Tool, if you want to have some fun, try fly fishing with nymphs. A wire body nymph, or fresh water shrimp would do good for the carp. You may even pick up some bass. I caught about a 3lb small mout this spring while steelheading, on a yellow stonefly nymph. I have caught lots of smallmouth, fly fishing rivers. Also, deer hair poppers and large streamers are great for Large mouth bass. Also, pike like big streamers, usually with tandem hooks. Glen Blackwood has a video on fly fishing for carp at troutmoor.org. He has a flyshop here down the road, and has a weekly show on PBS.
