firewood insects
I'm moving my split firewood into a more dry area. First season to be using my own stove. My question is, does the presence of those little "roley poley" in the wood necessarily mean the wood is rotten? The wood is still dense and has good weight to it(not wet) just heavy. As compared to some wood types that feel like balsa wood. Can I or is it recommended to burn this type of wood. I realize I may not get the heat output out of rotten logs.
thanks for any advice. |
Burn it......Keep away from the house....may attract termites.

you can burn any dry wood in a wood stove.
just stay away from burning wet or green wood, or wood that appears to still have sap in it- it will cause creosote to form in your stove pipe very quickly. |
