Final Reminder- Xtreme 4x4 this weekend

This is just a friendly reminder to watch Xtreme 4x4 on the Spike Network this weekend (1:00pm Eastern, both Saturday and Sunday. Yes the show will feature Banks products, but there will be a lot of interesting information, along with coverage of the KORE truck that ran the Baja 1000. I think you guys will find it interesting. Next weekend (March 12-13) the show will continue on the same project vehicle with suspension upgrades and a towing and off-roading test of the vehicle. I had a chance to preview the show yesterday and it really is fun to watch.

I started thinking about somehting when they mentioned the bigger intercooler.
what temperature will the heater grid kick on to warm the incoming air charge?

Grid heaters are turned on with outside air temp, not inside-- if I am correct.

Peter,

I'm sure others will want to know your answer to this question also. Since that turbo is electronically controlled, how will that work with all the various boxes that people have that are not the Six Gun?

That Intercooler looked like it was on steroids compared to the stocker. Sweet! Are the inlet and outlets, and tubing also larger than stock. Looked like it on camera. Is that what it takes for the High Ram to make an appreciable difference? In that setup, how much HP or TQ does the High Ram add? Tks.

Does Banks make a similar setup for the 12V, and is it available up here in Canada?

At some point, the incoming air charge could be cold enough to effect the way the diesel burns. my question is what is that temperature? Ambient? 150F?

From the FSM:
"The wait-to-start indicator gives an indication to the vehicle operator when the diesel engine intake air heater is energized in its preheat operating mode."

"The IAT provides an input voltage to the Engine Control Module (ECM) indicating intake manifold air temperature. The input is used along with inputs from other sensors for intake air heater element operation, for engine protection, fuel timing and fuel control."

With very large injectors I see my water temp drop down to 140F while idling with outside temps under 25F. However this doesn't seem to affect high power situations since I've dynoed at 35°F outside temp.

BTW, my tivo recorded "Xtreme 4x4: Banks Cummings" Would someone tell them they have an extra G floating around??

brandon.

My PVR on Dish Network said the same thing. It also said "Part 2 of 2". Isn't this Part 1?

If you use a "Spell-Checker", it gives you Cummings 'cuz it doesn't recognize Cummins.

Must be a Ford-Chevy programed spell-check.

Can I have that extra "G" to add to my acceleration force? I always thought that extra Gs were a good thing.

I was wondering the same thing. I've had my truck for about 6 months now. Didnt really plan any mods, but throwing the whole banks deal on looked pretty tempting.
On a side note, how about Jessi
