Factory Anti Spin Differential?

Are factory limited slip's worth spending the money on?
Dodge wants $300 something for the anti spin on the 2014 Ram 1500 diesel.
Is a guy better off having an aftermarket air or electric locker installed later?

I think for the little bit of money it costs to add it to the order, I'd definitely go for the factory one. It will be much better than simply having an open differential. After trying it, if you decide you still need something more, you can go for an aftermarket selectable locker.

You should definitely get it. IMO it will be the best money spent on options.

That is a given, should be 100 percent standard on any diesel truck. Most factory limiteds work pretty doggone well, and 300 bucks is a steal.

Are they actually letting you order the diesel option now?

Fiftygrit 02-10-2014 10:28 AM

I got it on my 06 when I ordered it and Im glad I did.

The factory limited slip works very well on the 3500's 300 is very reasonable!

Wouldn't changing the differentials yourself void your powertrain warranty?
Sure wouldn't want a new truck without one.

Thanks for the replies, yes $300 is a bargain if it works.

its the same rear diff on a 2014 hemi 1500. go test drive the Hemi on a rainy day.

my experience

Offroad driving without posi is "stuck" waiting to happen. Best $300 you will ever spend on the truck.

Rednecktastic 02-24-2014 10:08 PM

I wouldn't have one without it but I do go off road occasionally, nothing serious though.

Only downside is I believe the fluid wears faster and there are more mechanical parts that can break.

Keep in mind it isn't a locker, but it does work.

You are buying a truck, right?

Get it.

Best answer yet. [coffee]

Only 2 reasons I could think of not to get one would be a fleet on road delivery truck. Or if I wanted to install a locker of some sort for an offroad trail truck I was building.

Cujo_07 02-25-2014 10:50 AM

I've had one on every truck I've had, worth the money. Now with that said its amazing how many trucks are on dealer lots around my parts without it. I don't understand.
