F15
Well I live in a small community on the west coast of Canada. I love my country as any one would. We have fought in the big ones and have proven we are not whimps. Our previous govs have left us nutered in defence. It is not often we get to see real military hard ware. In fact as a Canadian we see old worn out stuff from ww2, just recently the gov has made a few new accusitions to the modern world of defence. There are some of use in this country that hurt accually bleed over this as it has taken to long.
Today I went to the Victoria airport to watch a 30 year old piece of military hard ware blow me away. And it was in a mutted form. Man those guys are good.
We had six F15s on the tarmac. I waited 1.5 hours to see them take off so did about 100 others. Not bad for a small community of tree huggers. Four F15s left the tarmac. The last one gave us a small double sun out the back for a short time. He new we wanted to see it. But he knew not to upset the huggers. As most of you know the air moved like it made you want to giggle.
Wooow Those 15s are just outstanding. I fly as a hobby I have multi engine instuments, commercial and sea plane ratings. So I like to see the real flyers fly.
I guess what I am saying is that we do not often see such beautiul tech and workmanship. If I was in the states I might want to live right on a military air base and watch them take off every day.
Five hours later I still want to see that again. To take a flight in one would just be dreaming to far out. But as a knowlegable flyer those guys are outstanding.
What else can I say and this is 30 years old flying machine. But we all know don't mess with the F15 in the air. Cudos to all the flyer's flying for the US military

I used to do tech support for the guys that build and test fly the F15's in St. Louis. Very impressive jets - especially when they get to the end of the runway on takeoff and stand them up on their Edit and go straight up until you can't seem 'em anymore. Wow - - -
im partial to the f-18, but i guess thats because im a marine
. those new ospreys are trully amazing aircraft though. My best friend is a crew chief on one of those birds and he says they are like the cadilacs of the sky.

I'm a speed freak. An airshow is a must for all you guys. Was at Randolph AFB
airshow, SA, Tx. last year. B-1 from Dyess AFB, Abilene, made a flyby & hit the afterburners. Ever heard bacon on the frying pan at 150 decibels?
Man! This thing fried the sky!
A guy doing contract work at SA airport was there two years ago. He was a
aviation guru from somewhere. He told me the F-16,F-15, & F-18 can go supersonic, vertical. STRAIGHT UP. Anybody know if thats TRUE?

I grew up near an AFB in sothern New Mexico. They used to fly the F-15 out of there. The would fly over the Space Hall of Fame and every once in a while take out a widow when they hit supersonic the building was only 3 or 4 stories high, tallest building in a small town.I know the F-15 can fly strait up not sure of the other 2, seen it many times then and when working the line here in AZ.
I spent 20 years working on the tactical fighters. F-4, F-15, F-16, A-10, F-111, A-7, and a few others.
They do a good job of converting fuel to noise and show. For the best one, you need to see a SR-71 on a maximum departure. That thing will eat clouds.
Yup, I miss the job.
By the way, got some stick time in a few of them also. Sick sacs ain't just for show.

I live at the end of the Runway at CFB Cold Lake, I curse those planes everytime they take off. Yet everyonce in a while I will run out side to take a look at them.
they are a amazing sight to watch take off and land, the immense power they have is stunnig to say the least. Now that Maple Flag is spinning up I should be more in flux as to sleep patterns.
Glad to see some people in Vic support the Operations.

i work for a GA plane manufacturer, right on the airport (duh!), so i have the privilege to watch f16's, c130's, c135's fly everyday as the base is on the opposite side of the runway as our company.
our doors that face the runway are open quite a bit (to move our planes from the assembly building to the paint building) so when an f16 flies by with the afterburners its incredibly loud but it makes me smile.
if i lived next to the airport i would not be smiling!

I'm a little disappointed here. No one mentioned the Tomcat. My son flew them for nine yrs and two deploys to the gulf. He says that as a intercepter it is second to none. And he said it can go vertical and accelerate. One more thing...he said that it aint a fighter if it doesn't have a 'Hook' hanging off its donkey

I've seen the f15 demos and I've seen the blue angels perform, but the sr-71 is pretty much the sweetest plane I've ever seen. I know all these jets serve a role in the greater scheme of things, but you can't mess with the sr71 =P

You're right about that. I saw a sr-71, but didn't see it for long
