A lot of people don't fully appreciate the God-like capabilities of some of our current and upcoming toys.

Work at WVU's diesel emissions lab. I was just promoted to head floor sweeper, but occasionally i get to turn a wrench, plumb fuel or cooling systems, and other shop improvements.

Worked the last two summers as an intern 1000 feet underground in a coal seam for Consol Energy. Helped assemble/fix equipment and get a new panel ready for the longwall move.

Will be graduating in May with a 4 year degree in mechanical engineering. I will most likely end up in the mine, but am currently looking for a job above ground. So any of you guys in WV-OH-PA that have any insider tracks for me, I'm your new best friend.

Small world.

You're doing the exact same thing I was doing in '99-'01 while I was completing my Master's Degree. Pretty easy and interesting work.

While I was there, they were running some big diesels - 2 Cummins and 2 Navistars pretty much 24/7 investigating the effects of various sulfur levels on catalyst life. Does the whole building still vibrate when the big Cummins is at full load? Of course, that was a while ago.....they're probably doing different projects now....I'm getting old....

If you're looking for a job and want to stay in the mountains, take a look at ATK's place in Rocket Center, WV - Allegany Ballistics Lab. Also the high-tech corridor down between Fairmont and Clarksburg is growing pretty quickly.

Edit: check your PMs

Okay, after reading all 16 pages of this thread, I'm now sure that "engineer" is the most overused job title. I think in one way or another everyone is an engineer in some form or fashion.

I was fired from my lucrative job as the guy that manually rolls the condoms just before they go in the package. I was there on time, I never blew any of them up, or took my work home with me. I just dont understand it, why cant a guy with a prostetic hook keep a good job these days. Oh well they did let me keep all the ones I packaged. So I was forced to find another job to feed my 5 kids (no joke).

Since then Ive worked 3 years welding/building train cars, 2 years as the sole welder for Baby Grand race cars, 2 yrs building stainless tank in the field, 4 yrs at stainless process piping installation, and now I own a subcontracting buisness doing the latter all over the US with 3 friends of mine that work for/with me.

I also spend alot of my time teaching my children the Truth.

(1) Hillary is not satan but mearly a reasonable idea of what his wife might look like.

(2) Jimmie Johnson might very well be Hillary's illigitamate son with Gore.

(3) Dodge did invent the automobile, four wheel drive and the zhamboni

(4) Watching Will & Grace will not be tolerated.

(5) Daddy's not "wasting time" on the internet he's gathering valuable information on DTR to finally put a stop to worldwide hunger, high diesel prices and any posts that discuss Ford owning shares of Cummins.
