Smile Enough is enough!

I,m retiring from my old job of 33 years at the end of August. The nice thing about this is everything! I've got a good pension, good savings, no car payments. The boat is paid for and the house is gonna change. I'm going to sell the house in the Town and move out into the country on 15 acres of land that is bought and paid for. The equity in the home is enough to pay it off and put up a modular home and a large garage/shop away from the house. I cannot express how excited I am right now. I'm 58 years young and already have had a dozen job offers that I turned down. After fixing up the old house and doing a little fishing I might reconsider.........I'll cross that bridge if I get to it.

58 is too young to retire. I've seen too many people retire early and end up taking a dirt nap, crazy, or going back to work.

If you rest, you'll rust.

Take a month off and get back to work doing something you love.

Congrats on your options!

CONGRATULATIONS to you buddy!! I am very happy to hear you are finally going to do it! I know you had talked to me about it briefly at the Claremont Rally back in June. I can tell you it is one of the best things I have done. Although I still work at the college part-time, it is definitely not like having to get up every day and go to work.

Enjoy yourself buddy!

One of the job offers is driving a brand new Pete from RI to CA and back. I don't know if a wheel holder like myself is quite up to that but i sure can learn to like it. Naturally I plan on getting my CDL again.

I just finished talking to my finacial guru and he was stoked. It looks like I have enough to retire and invest. The only thing that is a bummer is the pentalty for pulling some money before I am 59.5. Well that is the cost of living for the next ten months as far as I am concerned. It Is only $90 a month. I'll save that in fuel by not driving to work.

Sonny:

If you decide to take the truck driving job you can do it because you want to and not because you have to anymore. If you do take it, I know they will be getting themselves one heck of a good guy with you!
