Elevating tool box off bed floor (cap)
Elevating tool box off bed floor (cap)
I currently have a gull-wing box that I had on my '97. I have a Leer 100XQ on the way, so the over-the-rail tool box is no longer going to work. Going to sell that and pick up an in-bed box. However, being a Mega Cab, the bed is short enough as it is. I'd like to raise the box off the bed floor a bit so I can still use the full length of the bed. That would mean basically something in the corners or along the sides, but I don't know if I'd need support along the bottom from side-to-side either.
What have you guys done? I don't care if it sticks above the bed rail in height.

There is a guy locally running a KC Dually chevy, he has his box on the ladder rack above his cab.
I would just fab up a table out of 2" angle to set the box into. adjust the leg height for what you need. run some flat stock (or angle) under the legs so it doesn't punch thru the bed.
