Today's State Extremes
State Highs:
Sparrevohn 51°F
Golovin 46°F
Aniak 46°F
Bethel 45°F
Dutch Harbor 44°F
State Lows:
Snowshoe Lake -4°F
Northway -2°F
Gulkana 1°F
Puntilla Lake 1°F
Tanana 1°F
Still have high winds down around Dutch Harbor so that will keep us warm a couple more days, but should start dropping by this weekend. Weather guy callin for 20-40 below by saturday. Depends on if the clouds get pushed out, if they do we might see some cold temps.

Funny conversation today
Durring one of my phone calls to the outside today, the subject about our winters came up. After I had told him about how cold it gets by refering to it by saying(for instance) 40 below. there was this pause then ask....below what....

It would take me 20 minutes just to get suited up to go outside in those temperatures, then what happens if you're outside and suddenly need to use the outhouse? Speaking of which, how do you get a septic system to work up there? Doesn't the perma-frost prohibit the soil from soaking up the liquid? Heck, I would think the liquid would freeze before it even GETS to the leach field!chaikwa.

I'm with ya Chris!
Who, in their right mind, would willingly want to endure 40 below temperatures?
