Mornin all....Wood stove fired back up....Wind has dropped off and temps have cooled off a bit, but still above zero at +5 here....Need to get up and finish my Breakfast bar, got some lights to mount above it but they need to be recessed in the top molding plate. Still need to set the tile and grout them in, never done tile before so I'm procrastinating big time on that.

Who, in their right mind, would willingly want to endure 40 below temperatures?
It would take me 20 minutes just to get suited up to go outside in those temperatures, then what happens if you're outside and suddenly need to use the outhouse? Speaking of which, how do you get a septic system to work up there? Doesn't the perma-frost prohibit the soil from soaking up the liquid? Heck, I would think the liquid would freeze before it even GETS to the leach field!chaikwa.
Happy Birthday Matt. Wish I was 26 again. 20's were awesome.
Heidi, CMMG makes a nice .22 conversion option, but it's not cheap. Just FYI so you're fully informed.
Claude, all the mechanics are backed up right now. Nobody getting financed for new cars and the "good" junkers getting destroyed by the governement, people are forced to have what they got fixed instead of replacing it. Was just talking to Steve from Steve's repair last night about that. He's in the industrial area of the north side of Cadillac if you need somebody good. He bends over backwards for his customers. He had to delivered a radiator and coolant to me after he closed up the shop last night. He lives in Tustin. Must've caught something in the grill coming home in the morning? Trying to get up my hill, it boiled over from low coolant. Found a hole in the tank where it was leaking from. Called Steve's, his wife works the desk, and she got me one in the same day. Took mine out in about 45 minutes. Got the tractor going and plowed all afternoon to get ready for tonight. He got to the house at 7, and by 8 I was up and running again. Got this radiator thing down-pat now. The 4.0 Grand Cherokee has got to be one of the easier veghicles to swap radiators in anyway.
Coffee's on, find soem dry socks, the "big-one" is starting now.

Today is Tuesday, December 8th.
On this day in 1765 - Eli Whitney was born in Westboro, MA. Whitney invented the cotton gin and developed the concept of mass-production of interchangeable parts.
1776 - George Washington's retreating army in the American Revolution crossed the Delaware River from New Jersey to Pennsylvania.
1854 - Pope Pius IX proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. The theory holds that Mary, mother of Jesus, was free of original sin from the moment she was conceived.
1863 - U.S. President Abraham Lincoln announced his plan for the Reconstruction of the South.
1941 - The United States entered World War II when it declared war against Japan. The act came one day after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Britain and Canada also declared war on Japan.
1952 - On the show "I Love Lucy," a pregnancy was acknowledged in a TV show for the first time.
1953 - Los Angeles became the third largest city in the United States.
1983 - Matt, the Locomotive Super Hero of all time, was brought forth into this world. Happy Birthday Matt!

Thanks Claude!
Thanks Don! It'd be nice to stay my age forever!
Afternoon DTR. Got a dusting of snow last night and it melted off by 1000. Suppose to sleet then snow then rain than back to snow again between tonight and tomorrow night. Also calling for high winds with cold temps to make it blizzard like conditions, should make it interesting.

Well, I don't know the guy but a local state corrections officer could use an immediate prayer. A workcrew jumped him today and it sounds like they took him along with the vehicle and later left him for dead in their escape. He had been stabbed with a pitchfork. All prisoners have been secured, thanks to our oustanding K-9. The outlook is not good for the gaurd though. I'm not sure if the single man staffing was S.O.P. or a factor of the cut-backs. Their staffing has been DECIMATED since the first year of our current administration. I put it in this thread as a heads up on what the governemnt is causing with their choice in allocation of funding.
