Driving to Dallas

My better half is going to Dallas today. She was born and raised in Texas and is leaving N.Y. to go to Dallas today. I may leave N.Y. to follow her. Looking for work down there.

There are a lot of Telecom companies around North Dallas/Richardson/Plano. Some large and some small. I know they're here, but have no idea what the job market bares.

I'm confused (surprise, surprise). Is she just driving from NY to Dallas for the heck of it or is there some purpose for her coming down here (I know...you don't really NEED a reason to want to come to Texas...but still)?

Not to get into real detail. Its about the "inlaw thing". They just don't get along.

Now I'm confused.

Is your wife leaving you to go home? She doesn't like your parents?

Man, I wouldn't be worried about a job! Your marrage has to come first.

She don't want to be around your parents, but she wants you to move down to Dallas to be around hers?

Make sure you check out the job market first. After 911 the telecom district over near Plano is about gone. Not trying to say there isnt a job but may be hard to find. I know this because majority of my business came from those people and we closed our doors last year .

My dad works for Ericsson in Richardson as a switch engineer, two years ago there were about 20 folk in his department, he is the only one left and the clock is ticking on him to, company's moving to Swedin(sp?) . He told me one engineer they laid off was working at home depot, another at a lawn service. If it were me, I'd have a job already lined out before I left. It's getting bad job wise around Dallas.

Well, I know that Verizon has more work than they have people for. They are trying to get their new fiber optics stuff installed. They had to bring in 100 installers from Tampa Florida, along with the installers they got locally. The guy who installed my house said they are working 6 days, and many times 7 days a week.
