Thanks Don, maybe Top will chime in. The Mauser I have is chambered in 8mm. I did find out it is originally made by Steyr and was produced in 1943. It doesn'thave the original stock, but I am looking to find an original mauser stock for it.

If you're gonna restore it, this is the sight you want to check out. Word of warning, don't breath a word about sporterizing anything to these guys. Strictly research and restoration. http://parallaxscurioandrelicfirearm...firearmsforums

Would you believe Mauser actually tried to get the germans to order their guns in 6.5? The benefits of that round outweigh the 8mm (not that it's a bad round). The germans were still old-school in their thinking that bigger is better, plus they already had such an arsenal of 8mm stockpiled, they didn't want to spend the money to buy into a new calibre.

Thanks for the link Don.

I have a friend that shoots 6.5 x55 sometimes, got to shoot it once a few years ago and it was a nice round to shoot. I haven't been able to shoot 8mm yet. Once I get the Mauser cleaned and ready to shoot I'll get it out and put a few rounds though it.

It's all in how the day finished, and it looks like yours finished very well. You made it home and were able to spend some time here with your friends. That my friend is a good finish.

Cheer up pal.

You're 100% correct Tim, but I'm not 'on the job' anymore, and I work at home, so if I don't make it home at the end of the day, I'm really, really, REALLY doing something wrong! I hear what you're saying tho.

Wow, sounds more like a demolition derby to me. Sorry about your day - - this one will be better. Daddy has milk and cookies on the counter to help ease the pain. Now, go out and have fun today, Scott.

So sore from all my work the last two days I could scream. Too much bending over - - back is all cramped up. And I am only started on this trimming stuff. Maybe the easiest thing is dig all the plants up and put in grass.

OK, juice is down, grabbing mine and out of here. Ya'll have a gudurn.

Bob
