It's freaking ridiculous. I don't know if yall watch south park, but there is one episode that hits this topic. It's pretty funny. Talking about how some rap star won't be able to have his multi million dollar aquarium and how some rap star's kid won't be able to have his own private island. This is stupid.

 

Unless you're the musician.

I think that they're saying that if you don't support Capitalism by paying for a prouct, you are forcing industry towards Communism. I think it's kind of a stretch...

BTW music sharing is legal in canda according to the courts .......... we have to pay a surecharge on all blank media wich goes directly to the recording industry ......... so the judge said since we pay that we're allowed to share ..........

 

Personally, I have to agree with Larry, and I just don't feel right about ripping off someone's intellectual property. I don't understand how some folks who would never dream of shoplifting anything feel fine about doing it.

On the other hand, I can see the other side. From what I understand unless we are talking about a musician who is already famous, most of the profit goes to the label, distributor, and various middle men, and very little to the artist.

I guess it is kind of like the prescription drug thing: If prices weren’t so ridiculous here people wouldn’t be interested in importing from Canada. With music, how many times have you paid $20 or more for a disk that costs under a buck to make, only to find that only one or two songs are any good, if that?

If all CD’s were under $4.00 I’d spend more, the music companies would make more, and I’d have a more extensive collection…

Still, Communisim? I don't think so... People have been taping music off the radio or other recordings ever since there was reel to reel...
