Developing a travelling database
Developing a travelling database
For those of you that may be interested, I am thinking about developing a natonwide travelling data base for DTR members. Nothing fancy, just like an Excel spread sheet with addresses and phone numbers that I will distribute to DTR members on a monthly or so basis. This can be used when you are traveling to see where everyone is in case of emergency or just to meet and greet type stuff.

If you wish to be on that list, send me the info, (via PM or e-mail to keep it private), you wish to have published on the list and I will compile (put on a sheet of paper) and distribute it only to the members that respond to this request. The info will go no further than the members that respond and please do not send me any ifo you would not like to be on the list.

Remember to send me your e-mail or mailing address so I can get an electronic or hard copy of the sheet back to you.

Be sure and indicate what info you want published and what info you do not want to show up on the list. I have some info already on several members but I will not publish anything on the list until I get your authorization to do so.

Thanks

Joel

Joel, If you look at the membership applications you will see that we have a place for members to check if they want to be part of the emergency programs. These are in effect for disasters in their area and for travel assistance as you suggested. We are already compiling this information as the membership applications reach the National Chapter.
Sounds to me as though we are working on the same project from different ends ;D
DieselDaze as VP of NCDTR #1 has the duty of overseeing these types of projects, Why don't you contact him when you get a chance as I am sure he would love to have you help chair this committee. Our original idea is similar to yours but we intend to put the list here and keep it updated monthly, so it can be downloaded before you go on a trip.
Thanks for the idea, I hope we can help you to put it all together.

Lary

I was not aware that there was something like this already in the works. I was not sure everyone would want their information posted on the site for privacy reasons and such, that is why I was going to keep it confidential to the members that responded. I would love to see a section on here that you could go to and print the information before your trip, that way, like in our procedures files here at work, you would be getting the latest information. I will contact DieselDaze to see what help he needs from me if any. I carry my little Palm Pilot with me every where I go, since most of my normal brain cells are dead, so I will have the info in there at all times.
Re:Developing a travelling database
Yep that is why we make it an opt in program, they just check the box if they want in. Each month I will be getting more applications in and the list will grow in leaps and bounds.
We will not put all of their info in the list just enough to make contact. We are still in the planning stage of this program but with your help I am sure it will turn into a big success for the Chapters.
I will be putting together another post on the advantages of being DTR Chapter member and will have it stuck at the top of the Chapters news thread. In it all of these ideas will be listed and hopefully even some new ones as they come from the new chapter members like yourself. As you know we unfortunately had to shift attention from this endeavor for a short time, but I hope to be able to get back on it full time this coming month.
