Crabs

I'm looking for some advice from experienced crab fishermen here... I caught this nice big Dungeness crab yesterday but didn't get a chance to prep him for eating until today. I left it paddling around in the bathtub over night, complete with the water I caught it in. Well sadly this morning it had passed on, but I cleaned it all up anyhow. What I'm wondering now is can I still eat it after it passed away by itself, some say yes, others say NO, it's gonna be toxic now... I just don't want to waste such a nice crab...
Thanks!

I would not eat it, a dead crab is a good way to get sick.

I agree, toss it. I remember my dad getting very ill when I was a kid after eating bad shellfish. He was not algeric, but his illness involved horrible gatro-intestinal pains, vomiting, and the shakes. Was not a pretty sight.

The header did make me wonder if this was a truck site for a moment.
