The Coolest Thing EVER Happened Today

So I was on Cajalco Road today, stopped in the far left turning lane at an intersection. On the opposite side of the intersection, facing me, is a silver second generation lifted dually stopped at a red light.

When his light turns green, he stops it and leaves a nice smoke cloud behind him. I was like, "cool" and gave him the thumbs up out the window and warbled at him a little bit.

Now, here's where it gets really cool. As I was sticking out my thumb the dually makes it to the other end of the intersection, about right across from me, and as I'm looking at him a hear an unmistakable, beautiful "gROWF!" noise right behind him. I glance at it and this brilliant red Ferrari convertable throttles it and whips around the dually in a ballet of mechanical perfection.

So as it turns out, the silver lifted dually was stopped in front of a red topless Ferrari at a red light, and what I thought was an aggressive launch was really a smoking-out of a guy in a Ferrari, who subsequently blew the top off of his car and gave us all a wonderful show.

I was so amazed by the awsomeness of the scene that I couldn't speak for about 20 minutes.

The only thing that would've been better is if the Cummins had been capable of 12 second 1/4 mile times...

I personally don't find anything cool about smoke on the street, and cringe every time I see it. Those kind of antics are going to cost us all dearly someday, and it's going to be sooner than you think.

cough Buzzkill cough cough

smoke screens are a harmless and often funny way to deter tail gaters, ricers and anyone who deserves to be smogged.

I say it is doing a service to the community by teaching tailgaters that there is such thing as too close

what about all the rigs out there then too. I agree it can be a tailgater deterant. Mine naturally does it especially in freeway gridlock. It happened to a motorcycle chp the other day he just flashed his headlights I moved over and he was on his way, didn't seem to bothered by it.

I smogged a guy (right in the face) in his new Mustang a while back - he was treating me to his bone-jarring stereo, so I returned the favor. Everyone's happy!

Be sure and tell your legislators that when they attempt to outlaw it, because it is coming.

Outlaw what diesel engines? If you smoke out someone and a cop is a witness they will write you a ticket. Have you ever smoked out someone Bart accidentally or on purpose? What injector are you running in your truck?

Around here, if you smoke out someone who is tailgating, they call it road rage. A serious offense.

The first time some idiot smokes out the wrong person, or his smoke causes an accident and the insurance companies get involved, is the begining of the end, and the day we'll all kiss it goodby. I've seen close calls where smoke almost caused an accident too many times to count in the last few years. The public is slowly turning against diesels that smoke excessively, and laying down a smoke screen purposely, no matter what the reason, isn't doing any of us any good, and if fact, is harming us.

And yes, if I choose, my truck can smoke and literally turn the day into night, blocking traffic in both directions. I choose not to.

Uh when the state legislatures outlaw diesel engines? ok.... All diesel engines smoke. If we add something for performance, the truck will smoke more. I love how my truck smokes. sometimes i try to be easy on it so i dont smoke someone but it just comes out.

The state legislatures have more to care about than diesel smoke.

Ok I agree with the fact that people need to be responsible, however every one on here including me and you have smoked our trucks at some point in time, so if someone is telling a story, or asking about the "smokiest injector" don't act like you haven't ever done it yourself and make them feel guilty.

I've been saying for a long time, enjoy it while you can. I agree with Bart on that point but I still do this every now and then just cause I can. Not all the time though. In fact, I talked to Tim at my Claremont roundup this past weekend about a set of injectors to clean that up a little.
