That's one of the things I've never understood about the military. You are obviously doing a good job where you're at, you like what you're doing and that has probably contributed to your success. So to reward you for your hard work, they promote you... and move you to a different occupation in a different location.

Congratulations Mark, you ARE deserving of this, make no mistake about it!

I understand what you're saying... it's about spreading the wealth around. If you're good, you influence the folks at one spot, then move on, leaving a part of yourself there to carry on the good.

If you suck, they are relieved that you're gone... Besides, it's exciting to go new places and do different things. I enjoy moving around and seeing different things. It's a pain in the butt packing up a 3500 sq ft house with a wife, three kids, a dog, a cat, fish (they get flushed), a turtle (he gets put in a cooler) and a billion tools... but pain is temporary... unless you're chascottwa...

I assume we share the same last name... and you're from Florida... hmmm... I'm from Florida...

It's funny you say that, it's not true for sure! I walked into the tool room of one of my old units many years ago, and there was this Cpl sitting there, the boy was big- fat big. They were probably hiding him in there... Anyway, he turns to face me and I see his name tape... Morton. He looks at me for a second and I said, "Obviously, we're not related."

My nephew just got back from an Afganistan's prison.. He's a techie, from what he tells me. THink he does computer stuff there (or did, should I say)

Says he's back on the west coast until October, then his 3 years are up, and they move him to....... wherever they want him to go. Wife, kids, dogs, cats..... I guess they're called Army family Rats for some reason....

Congrats and Hope you get moved to a nice place. Maybe you can spend that 1% increase everyone has been so excited about
