computer help

My wife's lap top has a problem closing web pages after they are brought up. Everytime a new window is opened up in IE it can't be closed out with the red X button in the upper right hand corner. She is running windows XP and IE 6.0.

The only way I have found to close the windows is to shut the computer down. Any suggestions? Of course she thinks I screwed it up since I use it to surf this site in the evenings in front of the TV. help!

hope you're running some antivirus software. Looks like she may have caught a bug or some spyware..

Good luck

Also get on Microsoft's website and down load all the hot patches for XP.

Thanks for the suggestions. I stayed up late to redo all the critical updates after I did the restore from an earlier point. She does have Norton anto virus so I am thinking possibly some spyware too but I don't know alot about these things.

There are a couple of good "FREE" spyware programs out there.

Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy

They both work real good.
