It's GOOOOOOOD coffee, don't miss it!

Fronty Owner 08-05-2012 09:52 AM

tried something new this morning.
cut a green bell pepper about 3/4" thick to create a ring.
cooked the pepper until it had started to soften a bit and dropped two eggs in the middle with a bit of onion powder on them.
flipped once. the peppers had a bit of crunch to them when the eggs were done, the eggs come out a nice over easy (for those who like snotty eggs).
Paired that with a few strips of thick cut peppered bacon, buttery cathead biscuits and some home made raspberry jelly.
Im gonna take a nap now.

Mornin all, gonna be a hot one here on the edge of the Canadian prairies. It is going up to about 90f. For you southern Merkins that is winter weather but up here, that is HOT. Remember that in 3 months we could be dealing with temps around -40F. I am better at dealing with the cold, you just put on more clothes. Most houses up here, mine included don't have A/C. When it is that hot, what do you do? You can only get so nekkid and you are still sweating.
My sister, her husband and their youngest daughter are coming out for the night, tonight. It will be fun but it could have been so much more fun. 2 weeks ago yesterday, my niece (6 yrs old) broke her left leg. Non- displaced but complete fracture of the tib and fib just below the knee. She is in a cast from her groin to her toes for 4 more weeks. We bought both nieces 50cc quads the days before she broke her leg :(. The quads were not involved in the fracture. It sucks that she is going to be here on one of the hottest days of the year and she can't go in the pool, use the new quad or do anything. Poor kidlet. Ah well, kids will be kids.

We will find a way to make it fun for her anyway.

Have a good day all. Keep your head up and your stick on the ice....

Morning guys, another cold and rainy day in the Northland. Leave it to an Okie to torture a couple of innocent eggs, separating them from their beloved bacon strips with a "gasp!" vegetable.

Fronty Owner 08-05-2012 11:51 AM

90 degrees would be a nice break.
rain would be nice.

And the egg thing was something I saw on tv that looked good. Yeah, I watch the food channel as much as the hunting channel.
I still think my favorite is to take left over fajitas, get them just slightly warm and toss in a 1/2 dozen eggs, jalapenos, and a just before the eggs are done, some monterrey jack and cheddar blend then wrap it up in a warm large tortilla with a couple spoon fulls of salsa.

egg to fajita about even amounts and about a cup or so of cheese.

How I spent part of the weekend.
Grand-Daughter's 2nd Birthday.
She wanted to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks............again. [laugh]

Wifey caught some kind of 'bug', ..... she's been coughing and feeling like crap for three days.
Hope she didn't give it to me. [tapdshut]
Rode the Geezer-Glide to Casa Del Shovelhead over the weekend.
Trip back today was H-O-T.
Lovin' the AC and an ice cold adult beverage. :chug:

You just figured it out, Sean -- - everything down here is air conditioned. We only get to a high of maybe 92 or so here, but always a breeze - - yep, lots of humidity. Our house has two central AC units. But they only run about 4 months normally. Only run the heat maybe a couple weeks total in the winter. The rest of the time the house is wide open, breezes blowing thru and lots of time spent in the lanai.

Wife is doing better. She is up and around trying to get back into her routine. She was thinking of driving into town and do some shopping until,,,,,. A little background first. She has been on some pretty heavy duty narcotic pain meds and was told not to drive. She have been off them for a couple days so she thought she would be fine. Well, enter the cat. Cat was hungry and being a pest in the kitchen just before the wife was ready to leave. I pick up the cat and the wife tries to decide which can to give the cat. So she grabs a can and puts it under the cats nose and, Oh, she can't smell it in the can. Why can't they put a cent dot on them, you know, like a scratch and sniff on them so she will know what they smell like,,,,,,,????????

I'm driving!

When I was working shift work in Alaska during the winter I would go to bed in the dark and get up after dark. It was like there was never any daytime.

Two things I will almost always eat. Anything deep fat fried and anything with cheese on it.
If I had a deep fat frier, I would cook cheese in it every day till I died (about 3 weeks[laugh]).

Glad she's doing better.
Make sure the wife doesnt put the cat in the refrigerator.
Some years back I read about a lady taking Ambien who had put the cats food out the door and put the cat in the fridge.

Well, back outside for awhile.

hence the same reason I dont own a deep fryer.
I've cut back on the foods that I eat fried in oil.

If you get one, try a deep fried egg.. or three.
