You'll be surprised on what you can carry with the right type of holster. My usual conceal carry is a Taurus 745 in a inside waistband holster but with a really loose shirt I have no problems carrying a full size 1911 in a shoulder holster rig.

I received my CCL about a week ago. and i carry a glock 27. from what i can tell it conceals fairly easy. and thats saying a lot i am a small guy. i use an inside the waist holster. I also looked at a little S&W the other day it is about the same size as my 27 just a little thinner. not to mention the recoil on the 27 is about the same as my glock 25 and it has a 9 round mag. as for as for carrying in the truck i have a full size XDM40.

What holster ( clip inside the pants at the small of the back) do you folks like? I'll be carrying a H&K USP Compact in 40 S&W.

thats what i have but i am looking into ordering a cross breed holster. i have heard nothing but good things about them and it lets the gun ride a little higher on the waist so it is not so much behind the belt and u can bend a little better i have heard.

Check out the Milt Sparks VM-II.
VERY comfortable, and very discreet.

those are nice but i like the way that the cross breed has the buttons on the bottom so that u can tuck your shirt in and all u see is the clops.

Milt Sparks uses Kydex clips to replace the loops to add a 'tuckable' fit.

Take a look at the AMT Backup .45 if you can find one. D/A only, no messy safety to contend with and 5 rounds of forty-five chunker going downrange. It's small and light(ish) and very well made. It's also as ugly as a goat's mudhole. I've got gorilla hands, so I got an extension for the mag so my pinky doesn't grope about in space.

It's about as elemental as a pistol can get. Magazine, slide, trigger. You just got the two dollar tour of the AMT Backup .45.

I carry a Colt Cobra .38 Special snub nose revolver. It's pretty light, compact, and when looking at me you would never know it's there.

Nope.....I'm all for our LEO's being safe.........I don't necessarily agree with carry requirements, but I do respect and honor them.

I have a holster of similar design called The Memphis from Southern Holsters; I think it actually rides a bit lower than the VM-II. Easily conceals a full-size 1911.

Edited to say that his backlog is nowhere near as long, and that translates to significantly lower prices. You can find VM-II's, but the scarcity drives the price up a bit.
