Chevy NV4500 Bellhousing ???
Hey guys, wondering if anyone out there knows where or if I can find a steel (or non aluminum) bell housing for a 2000 Chevy NV4500/454 tranny. The bell housing in our rollback truck has 3 cracks in it, and the last one had 4 cracks when we found them. We also can't seem to find anything that would be cracking these things.
Any help from the diesel guys?? Chris |
Good luck! I had my first one welded, $35. It eventually broke and was replaced at jobber for $350. There is a grease fitting for the fork on the bell housing, not greasing it every oil change will speed the cracking/breaking. Seems backing up in reverse with a heavy load breaks them. My dodge now handles the heavy loads. :D

Also, where is a good place to get a reman tranny??? I'm looking at Cost and Warranty in case it goes out again, and I think it will. 23nd tranny in 25K miles[eyecrazy]
Funny thing is, the same shop that built this tranny built mine 35K miles ago, and I'm putting A LOT more strain on mine than that truck:D ;) Thanks Again, Chris |
signature600, friend owns a tranny shop got it for me at jobber (shop price). Yep, gm quoted $750 to me.
