CD burning question
I have a bunch of stuff in my HD that I would like to transfer to CD, but can't find how to transfer the info. If I right click on "Send to" I only have the following options:
3 1/2 Floppy (A)
Desktop
Mail recipient
My documents
Share-to-web Upload folder
Web publishing wizard.
Shouldn't there be in that group an option to send it to the CD burner? (Nero) How can I burn the info in my HD onto CD's?

WOW! That was fast!!!
I tried that. Nero showed it had received the info and that it was burning it. The burn process took about 5 seconds and then said it was finished. The problem is that there is no data on the supposedly newly burned CD. It is blank. For the amount of data I was burning I would have expected at least 8 minutes.

If you right click on your CDR drive in explorer, then go to properties, there will be a tab for recording. Chances are if you dont have the "sent to cd" option when you right click files, the box "enable cd recording" is unchecked in the recording tab on the drives properties.
However this should have no effect on nero burning the discs.

You need to spend more time with Nero, once you figure out how it works you will be okay.Once you have selected the files you want to burn you have to copy them to the workboard that Nero uses to store it's files then it should work okay for you.Almost all of the programs that burn CD's require you to select the file from your harddrive then drag it with the mouse button held down to the work area.Once you understand the concept it is pretty easy. You are getting close but you just need to carry your moves a little farther.Maybe study the Nero help files a little if you still have problems.Ron G

I have been using Nero for a couple of years now with no problem and know what you mean about dragging the program and dropping it into the work area. I can drag them as usual and it shows up in the work area and the burn process starts as usual, but no actual burning takes place even tho Nero tells me it is completed.
I do have a new burner and it is only since then that the problems started. Also, the Nero program now looks a bit different. Hmmm, perhaps I do need to study this a bit more and not just go on what worked in the past.
I am sorry and did not mean to question your abilities,it sounded like it was your first time with it.If you are using a DVD/CD combo you may need to do some extra configuration to get the system to recognize it.My XP computer just crashed and I need to clean the CPU and fan to get it back online which I don't have time for right now or I could be a little more help but I think the problem is that your system does not consider your CD drive as a candidate for burning CD's.Good Luck,Ron G

Looks like the problem is solved. I uninstalled all the software related to my two CD drives, and also uninstalled two versions of Nero. Didn't know I had two versions of Nero until I went digging. Reinstalled everything and surprise - everything now works. or at least, what I have tried so far. I can even copy a CD again.
