Ive gone to a few CB forums and asked the pros for their opinion and they all said to run either a Wilson 1000 or Wilson 5000.

Check with these guys.

Formally known as Clays Little Radio Shop....I knew Clay back when he first opened his shop. A little hole in the wall on a gravel parking lot. He soon became one of the most sought after radio docs in the country. Wilson antennas are some of the best you can get, course they are now made by Barjan...Wilson sold it to them and went into cellular antennas.....

To run sideband you will need a radio with that feature built into it.It will have a switch to change from AM to upper or lower sideband and a control to fine tune the frequency for best reception.Ron G

Get a Wilson 1000 and you will not be disappointed, it is a great antenna.

For the best reception and transmission, the ideal spot for the antenna is in the middle of the roof.
Any other location will work but will be somewhat directional.

Yeah i got my new mic today but not an antenna and drove it around with my dad on a hand held at the house. Am getting sort of alot of buzzing with the truck on. But when it is off it is fine. Now i do live in a small town with moutians all around. So if anyone could help it would be great i have my fire stick antenna mounted on the fender.

Thank Sam.

Also is it true on the wilson one that the ball in the middle has to be above the cab. I understand this is a diesel site not a cb site but anyne know.

I think you were just asking about a center loaded antenna. Your best reception will be a top loaded. All should be mounted center if possable if not and you don't tow, passenger side, if you tow drivers side.

I have a 48" firestik II mounted with the dodge hood mount found from here
http://www.firestik.com/CatalogFrame.htm bought locally and I get about 5-7 miles on the HWY.
