Exclamation Be Careful Under Them Trucks !!!!!

Ya'll my best friend was working under a Peterbilt changing front tires two weeks ago. Had it jacked up with wheels off, no jackstands ! Well it fell off on him ! Took 'em almost an hour to extricate him....had to pull off the front bumper. He was badly hurt, damaged spleen , kidney, broke ribs and fractures in his back and lots of torn muscles. Thank God he is going to be okay and may get out of the hospital this week. But he is definetely lucky to be alive ! Don't take chances ! Its not worth losing your life. Use Jackstands and be certain everything is well placed.

Your friend is lucky to be alive. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes.

Yeah, he's very lucky. Had a neighbor when I was a kid that did the same thing but with a regular sized truck. Truck fell on him and he didn't make it. You can imagine as a teenager who liked working on his truck, this left a long standing impression on me. Always double and triple check where the jack is placed and jack stands are a must!

Glad your friend will be ok.

A neighbor of a friend died that same way. He was home alone and working on a car in the driveway when it fell on him. No one found him for several hours and it was too late.

Why was he under it changing tires? Was he trying to do it without taking the rim off the truck?

I always place the vehicle on two jackstands and then grab the vehicle and shake it like all hell. If its gonna fall i wanna make sure its not while im under it!

Usually leave the jack in place as well... paranoid? Maybe.

I've seen that picture literally hundreds of times,
first time I noticed that he's welding the gas tank.

My dad's uncle was under a truck working once, back in the 1950's, with no jack stands. He was hammering on something with a short sledge, and the truck fell on him. The hammer kept the truck from crushing him until they could get it off, the handle wedged against the floor and propped the truck.

That's the story my dad tells everytime something gets jacked up.

Yup. I always use jack stands. Even when changing brakes. I'm still leary about getting under a truck when it's on the ground and all 4 tires are on it.
